🏡 BARNET COUNCIL UPDATE

🚧 Investing in roads and pavements

Barnet Council is investing over £15 million into improving roads, pavements and infrastructure across the borough over the coming year.

Works will prioritise areas most in need, based on independent surveys, alongside ongoing repairs such as pothole fixing.

🎓 Top marks for Barnet schools

Barnet has reached a major milestone, with 100% of schools now rated good or outstanding (or equivalent) by Ofsted.

This reflects the boroughs continued focus on high-quality education and strong outcomes for young people.

♻️ Tackling fly-tipping and waste

Barnet is stepping up action on fly-tipping, with increased fines and targeted enforcement in hotspot areas.

Residents are encouraged to dispose of waste responsibly and report issues to help keep neighbourhoods clean.

🌱 Greener Barnet initiatives

Environmental initiatives include tree sponsorship schemes, expanded food waste collections and biodiversity projects such as living roof bus stops.

These efforts support Barnets journey towards a greener, more sustainable borough.

🔧 Repair, reuse and reduce waste

Free Repair Cafés help residents fix everyday items—from electronics to clothing—reducing waste and saving money.

They also provide a great opportunity for community connection.

💼 Jobs, skills and learning opportunities

A wide range of employment and training opportunities are available across Barnet, including council and community roles.

Skills and lifelong learning programmes are helping residents boost confidence and career prospects.

🏡 Bringing empty homes back into use

The council is working to bring long-term empty properties back into use.

Grants of up to £40,000 and expert guidance are available to support refurbishment and improve housing supply.

💉 Health and wellbeing support

Residents are encouraged to stay on top of their health, including checking vaccinations such as MMR.

Local initiatives and screening programmes are supporting wellbeing across the borough.

🏃 Stay active with FAB

The Fit and Active Barnet (FAB) Card offers discounts and benefits at local leisure centres.

Its an easy way to stay active with additional support available for carers.

🎨 Culture, community and creativity

Barnet continues to invest in culture and community through creative programmes and borough-wide initiatives.

These help celebrate local identity and bring communities together.
