Here’s the latest from Haringey Council – with new homes, thriving culture, parks upgrades and a big cheer for local students.

🏘️ Building for the Future
Over 100 new council homes are in the pipeline, including 76 at The Roundway and 32 at Lordship Lane – all built to energy-efficient Passivhaus standards. Families in Tottenham are already moving into new homes at White Hart Lane, part of the council’s pledge to deliver 3,000 homes by 2031.

👩‍🎓 Celebrating Exam Success
Well done to students across the borough on their GCSE and A Level results. Pupils at Park View, Alexandra Park, Highgate Wood and Haringey Sixth Form College have been praised for their resilience and achievements – with many heading on to university, apprenticeships and exciting careers.

🌱 Parks & Leisure
Wood Green Common has had a major revamp, with a new playground, FA Playzone, Multi-Use Games Area and outdoor gym. At Park Road Leisure Centre, new pool covers and energy-saving works are set to cut costs and reduce carbon emissions.

🎭 Culture & Community
Muswell Hill Library reopened on 29 September after a major makeover – part of a £4.9m investment across Haringey libraries. Seven Sisters Market is also back, buzzing with Latin American food, music and community spirit. Jacksons Lane is marking its 50th anniversary with borough-wide events, while Black History Haringey 365 keeps culture alive all year round.

👦 Support for Young People
The Rising Green Youth Hub in Wood Green has secured funding until 2028, giving young people mentoring, safe spaces and activities. The Start Something Major programme also continues to help unemployed young people into work, and Children and Young People elections give 11–19-year-olds the chance to represent their peers.

🌍 Health & Wellbeing
Free NHS Health Checks are available for residents aged 40–74, while Sexual Health Week highlights local services. Parents are reminded about school vaccinations, and #AskAboutAsthma Week shared tips on reducing risks for children. Recovery Month is also being celebrated, shining a light on resilience and support services.

🚲 Safer Streets
School Streets are expanding to Welbourne Primary and Bounds Green schools, cutting pollution and making school journeys safer. Letting agents have been fined more than £100,000 for failing tenant safeguarding, and new size-based surcharges are being introduced on parking permits to encourage fairer road use.

🎉 Festivals & Events
The Age Well Festival brought residents together at Bruce Castle Park with performances and workshops, while Merchant Navy Day was marked with a Red Ensign raising ceremony. Streets Fest in Finsbury Park supported rough sleepers, and Wood Green Common reopened with community activities for all ages.
