Lost or Stranded? Clever Mobile Phone Trick That Could Save You

by | 2 Dec, 2025 | it and tech

If you’re ever lost, injured, or stranded (say your car breaks down or you run out of fuel), and your mobile signal is poor or your battery is running low, here’s a tip that could help rescuers find you.

If you still have signal, change your voicemail greeting to include:

  • Your approximate location
  • The date and time
  • What’s happened (e.g. broken down, lost, out of fuel)
  • What you’re doing next (e.g. staying put or walking towards help)

This way, anyone calling you will hear that message — even if your phone later loses power or signal.

If you don’t have signal to update your voicemail, try sending a text with the same info to a trusted contact — texts often send even when calls won’t go through.

A quick action like this can save vital time in an emergency.
